A bespoke-made pool table is more than just a piece of furniture; it is an investment in both craftsmanship and pleasure. Since our family began this journey in 1978, we have crafted tables designed to be enjoyed for a lifetime. To ensure your bespoke table remains in pristine condition, a little care and attention can go a long way.

Here is our expert guide to maintaining your table, protecting its quality, and ensuring it remains a magnificent centrepiece for years to come.

1. The Cloth: Your Playing Surface

The cloth is the heart of your playing experience. Our high-quality Hainsworth cloths are designed for durability, but a few simple practices will keep them in top condition:

  • Regular Brushing: Using a dedicated pool table brush, gently sweep the cloth in a single direction, from the bulk of the table towards the black spot. This removes dust and chalk residue and helps maintain the nap of the cloth. Never brush in a circular motion.

  • Keep it Clean: Avoid eating or drinking near the table. Spills can stain the cloth and affect the ball's roll. For chalk, we recommend using a similar colour chalk to the cloth colour and chalk holders or keeping it away from the table when not in use.

2. The Frame: Solid Wood Care

Our commitment to using premium, locally-supplied hardwoods is a testament to our belief in long-lasting quality. Here’s how you can care for the solid wood frame of your table:

  • Temperature and Humidity: Solid wood is a natural material that can be affected by changes in environment. Keep your table in a room with a stable temperature and humidity level to prevent the wood from expanding or contracting, which can cause subtle movements.

  • Gentle Cleaning: For dusting, use a soft, dry cloth. If a deeper clean is needed, a slightly damp cloth is sufficient. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive materials, which can strip the finish and damage the wood.

  • Protect from Sunlight: Prolonged direct sunlight can cause the wood to fade over time. Consider using curtains or blinds to protect your table, especially during peak sunlight hours.

3. The Pockets and Rails: A Little Goes a Long Way

The rails and cushions are vital for a true, consistent bounce. Our experienced craftsmen ensure a perfect setup, but a little attention helps maintain it.

  • Inspect the Pockets: Every so often, check the pockets for any signs of wear. While our hand-crafted leather pockets are built to last, a quick check ensures any minor issues can be addressed before they become larger problems.

A bespoke pool table is a significant investment and a source of pride. By following these simple maintenance tips, you are not only preserving its beauty and playability but also honouring the craftsmanship and quality that went into creating it. It is our pleasure to provide not just a table, but a family heirloom built for generations of enjoyment.
